Fig. 3   The effects of gibberellin (GA), S-(+)-carvone (CAR), peppermint oil (PMO) and CIPC on the enzyme activities for α-amylase and β-amylase in specific tissues of tuber bud discs from Solanum tuberosum cv. Agria.

Tuber bud discs were treated for 2h as described in the methods without (CON) or with 50 µM gibberellin A3 (GA) and, as indicated 100 or 1000 µM CAR, 100 or 1000 µl/l PMO, or CIPC. The enzyme activities were quantified in sprout (unsprouted bud tissue for CON and GA+CIPC) (a) and base (b) tissues excised from bud discs after seven days of incubation (see methods). Mean values ± SE (N≥3).
